
IBP Wired Series – Official Rules (2026)

Event details (ramp rules, start/stop times, boundaries, etc.) may vary by event. Always follow the official
event posting and Tournament Director instructions.
Tournament Director decisions are final.
Key Rules (Quick Read)

Vessels / Power
• Vessels allowed: Canoe, Kayak, and aluminum boats under 20 ft (V-Hull/Mod-V permitted).
• Please abide by all state laws/regulations regarding trolling motors and vessel operation.
• No outboard motors permitted on vessel on any Long Island Wired events.
Licenses / Eligibility
• All anglers must have the appropriate fishing license for the area.
• Anglers under 18 must have a signed Parent/Guardian Consent Form with correct contact information.
Safety
• Coast Guard certified PFDs must be worn at all times on kayaks and canoes. Other vessels must
comply with state regulations.
• Prohibited substances: No alcohol or illegal drugs are allowed.
Electronics
• Only one Forward Facing Sonar (FFS) transducer may be mounted on the bow trolling motor.
• Underwater cameras and Deeper units are not permitted.
Measuring Equipment
• All anglers must use a certified Ketch Board or YakAttack Leaderboard to measure their catch.
• Each angler must have their own board; it may be requested for inspection by the Tournament Director.
Scoring Format (C.P.R.)
• IBP Wired events use the C.P.R. method: Catch, Photo, Release.
• Best 5 fish (by length) count for the event.Fish Photo & Measurement Standards
• Fish must be measured left to right on the board with dorsal fin up only. Fish cannot be measured upside
down.
• Any fish photo not measured facing left-to-right will be denied.
• Mouth must be closed and placed against the bump board; if not, there will be a 1/2 inch deduction.
• Tail pinching is not allowed; if it occurs, there will be a 1/4 inch deduction.
• All fish are measured in 1/4 inch increments; IBP rounds down to the nearest 1/4 inch.
Leaderboard Tie-Breaker
• If two or more teams are tied on total length, the tie goes to the team with the largest single fish
recorded for that event.
ID Code / Duplicate Fish / Cheating
• Your identification code must be visible and clear in every picture or the submission will be denied.
• You may not submit the same fish twice. If this happens, it results in automatic disqualification from the
event.
• Any angler caught cheating may be removed from IBP events and is not entitled to refunds for that day.
Teams / Fishing Together
• A team is two (2) anglers fishing together from the same boat.
• Kayak teams are allowed: two anglers may fish as a team from separate kayaks/canoes as long as they
stay within 20 feet of each other while fishing.
• If another team reports, or the Tournament Director observes a team not fishing close to each other, it is
at the Tournament Director’s discretion to apply a 5-inch penalty or DQ the team for the event.
Weigh-In Option (Livewell / Measure-In)
• If you choose to use a livewell and measure-in at the end of the event, you must notify the Tournament
Director before start.
• If required for that event, you must also register on the official scoring platform prior to start.
Entry Fee / Payouts (Participation Based)
• Entry Fee: $100 per boat/team.
• Entry fee includes Big Bass, KYR Junk Fish, and event payouts.
• Payouts depend on participation:
• • 1–2 teams: pays out 1st place only.
• • 3–6 teams: pays out 1st & 2nd.
• • 7+ teams: pays out 1st, 2nd, & 3rd.
• Big Bass and KYR Junk Fish are separate payouts (as shown on the official payout chart).Angler of the Year (AOY) – Points System
• Points are awarded based on placement at each event.
• 1st place earns 100 points, with a 5-point decrease per position thereafter.
• All anglers who register and launch at an event receive 50 registration points.
• Total Event Points = Finish Points + 50 Registration Points.
• AOY standings are determined by total points earned over the season.
• Each angler’s lowest event will be dropped from their season total (a missed event or a zero may be
used as the drop).
• An angler must fish a minimum of four events (not counting the drop) to qualify for AOY.
Team Substitution Rules (AOY)
• Each team is allowed up to two (2) substitute teammates per season.
• After the second substitution is used, the team’s AOY points reset to zero.
• You may fish alone with no penalty if your teammate cannot attend an event.
• Substitutes must be approved by the Tournament Director before the event.
AOY Championship Event
• Final AOY standings will be determined after the designated AOY Event (date/location posted during the
season).
• The AOY Event is the final qualifying event for Angler of the Year.
• Anglers must fish the AOY Event to be eligible for the final AOY title.
AOY Tiebreakers
• If two or more anglers are tied in total points after the drop:
• 1) Most first-place finishes.
• 2) If still tied, most second-place finishes.
• 3) If still tied, heaviest single-event total length/score during the season (as recorded by IBP).
• 4) If still tied, a one-day fish-off will determine the winner (location decided by Tournament Director).
Final Authority: Tournament Director decisions are final.
